My parents brought gold for me since I was young, it is kept with them, and zakat has never been paid on it; what should I do?

If you are the owner of the gold, it is your responsibility to pay its zakat, and you can calculate the amount due each year by weighing it and checking its current market value online. zakat, gold, ownership, calculation, responsibility, wealth https://www.youtube.com/shorts/JrDQ0Ot5z54
If the gold is yours, meaning that you are the owner, and maybe it's just being kept at your parents' place, then you need to pay zakat on it. Just double check to see whether your parents have made you pay zakat on it, but if it's yours, it's your responsibility to pay zakat on it and Allah will ask you about it because you are the owner. The easiest way to pay zakat on gold is very simple: just weigh the gold, and whatever the weight of the gold is in grams, and the carat of the gold as well, all you need to do is on your zakat day you need to just go online and just find how much that is equivalent to. So the number of grams and also the carat of the gold, just go online every year on your zakat day and find out what the value of that gold is and add it onto any cash that you may have, for example anything in your bank account, and pay 2.5% of that. That's the easiest way in terms of gold, so you only need to write down the weight of it once and the carats, and then every year just work out what the value is. Just go online; it'll be easy to find.
