The official view of the majority of scholars is that it is not haram, as the prohibition applies only when done out of pride or arrogance, which is not the common reason today. clothing, trousers, ankle, pride, ruling, scholars https://www.youtube.com/shorts/3BNNascTOxk
This is interesting. So the official opinion of the majority of scholars of the four madhhabs, the official view is that it is not haram. I'll explain this in detail. So there's a hadith in Sahih Bukhari, the Prophet ﷺ, he said that whoever has their garments below their ankles, in terms of males, that Allah will not look at them on the Day of Judgment. But there are other narrations where the Prophet ﷺ said, if it is done out of pride. Both are authentic narrations. Now, when we're making a ruling, how do we make a ruling? We have to look at all of the hadith together before we make a ruling. So when we look at all of them together, then the scholars say that the reason for the prohibition is if somebody is doing it out of arrogance, out of pride. Nowadays, nobody does it for that reason. It's the norm. That's how people wear their garments, wear their clothing. And if you're uncomfortable with it, then you don't have to. A number of scholars say that it's still disliked. However, it is not haram. As long as you were to do it, not out of pride or arrogance.
