Is wearing makeup permissible?
The general principle in the Sharia for women for any of these aspects, whether it be the clothing that you wear, whether it be makeup, is that it should not attract undue attention in the presence of non-mahrams. So let's say, for example, you're at home and you're doing your makeup and there's only mahrams around or any females around, no problem — you can do whatever it is that you like. But in the presence of non-mahrams, if you're going to be going out, then any of the makeup you wear should not attract undue attention. If it is, for example, a small amount of makeup, let's say that's to cover up blemishes or small faults, for example, then that will be permissible. But anything that attracts undue attention would not be allowed.
