What can I do to make my dua be accepted?
Here are five things that will help you increase the likelihood of your dua being accepted. Number one: the sunnah of the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam was to be in a state of wudu. Number two: the sunnah of the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam was to face the qibla. Number three: the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam would raise his hands. Number four: he would start his dua by praising Allah. So even if you say alhamdulillah, subhanallah, anything like that is sufficient in terms of praising Allah. Number five: send salam and praise upon the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam. You could say Allahumma salli ala Muhammad, that's sufficient. Because one day the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam he saw a man making dua. This man when he was making dua he did not send salutations upon the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam. So the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam said to him, 'You have been hasty.' And then he came across a second man who did send salutations upon the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam. And this man the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam said, 'This is how you should make dua.' So number one: be in a state of wudu, raise your hands, face the qibla, praise Allah, praise the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam. Then thank Allah for what he's given you first, then ask whatever you want.
