Paradise is at mother's feet, but my mum is a narcissist.

So this hadith is collected by Muhammad, the Prophet ﷺ said that we should be dutiful to one's mother as paradise lies at your mother's feet. Now what does this mean? It means caring for your mother, it means being kind to your mother, it means helping your mother get to Jannah so that you will be able to get to Jannah. And that's one of the greatest ways of getting to Jannah, by helping your mother. Now this hadith is a general statement by the Prophet ﷺ. There may be inevitably exceptions as there are to any general statements as such. And so therefore things may vary slightly. But the key point for us is that the hadith is emphasising us doing the best, trying your best, being the most kind, being the most caring, the best of your ability. Maybe there are certain things that are out of your control, maybe for example you need a little bit of space at certain times. But the key point being you try your best, that's what the hadith is emphasising. And when we do that, inshallah, we ask Allah ﷻ to be amongst the people of that hadith that are entered into Jannah.
