Clapping and whistling are permissible when not done as a form of worship, such as for encouragement or gaining attention. clapping, permissibility, worship, customs, whistling, fiqh ruling https://www.youtube.com/shorts/H8JXdNB8gtk
So clapping is permissible particularly if you're doing it to gain someone's attention or encouragement. The same goes for whistling as well. Maybe often it's common with children. A common question we get. There is a second view which says that it's disliked, and the reason for this is because the people of the past they used to worship by clapping their hands and by whistling. Now nowadays nobody whistles or claps as a form of worship. You're not clapping worshipping your child when you're clapping them or encouraging them, for example, or whistling to warn somebody. It's not a form of worship. So because it's no longer a form of worship, there's no issue with doing it. If you are not comfortable, you don't have to. You can always avoid it, but inshallah there's no issue with it and it will be permissible.
