During an argument, if a husband says to his wife, 'why don't you leave then?' is that considered a divorce?
So generally speaking, no, it wouldn't count as a divorce. We have to be very careful with the words that we use and the intention that we have. So here he's more asking a question. He's not saying that I divorce you. A common one is if somebody says, I want to divorce you rather than I divorce you. Does that mean him saying, I want to divorce you? Does that count as a divorce? Maybe, maybe not. It depends on the intention, depends on the context. And so really we need to look at it in a lot more detail. So we have to be very careful with the words that we say because they do have heavy, heavy consequences.
