Is tying hair in a high bun when it's hot, which looks like a camel hump under hijab, not allowed?
Having a raised hijab or a camel style hijab as it's termed haram. We have to understand the hadith of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, the hadith collected in Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, where he said that there will be certain females who will have three characteristics and these are from the groups of the people of Jahannam. What are the three characteristics? Number one, they are clothed but naked, meaning maybe their clothes are, for example, transparent or see-through. Number two, they encourage others to the disobedience of Allah. And number three, that they have this raised style of hijab, like a camel hump. If you just have one of these three, it automatically means you're not in that hadith about the people being from Jahannam. So that automatically rules you out if you only have one of those three aspects. What does it mean to have a raised hijab? Imam Nawawi, who is the most famous commentary of Sahih Muslim, for example, he mentions it's like tying up a specific garment or having a turban around the hijab. So various ways of interpreting it. But in short, as long as you don't have all of these three, then it wouldn't be under that hadith.
