Why are games with dice considered Haram?

So there are two views on this. The first view is because the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam has mentioned dice in various hadith, so the scholars say that it's not allowed. The second view though says no, the reason for the prohibition is because the game is based purely on luck. So as long as the game is not based purely on luck, meaning there's an element of thought, of strategy, of intellect in terms of what you're doing and maybe how you're moving the piece and so on, then that's fine and that's permissible. So inshallah it would be fine.
