So two views with regards to dice. The first view is that the general prohibition is not allowed. The second view, however, is that the reason for the prohibition or the reason for the hadith is that if it involved an element of gambling and if the game was totally based on luck, pure luck. So if there's an element of strategy, thought, intellect in terms of how you're playing the game, what you're doing with your pieces and so on, then inshallah it would be permissible. But just bear in mind there are two views.
