How do I obtain a khula and is there an iddah with khula?
A khula is when a wife wants to end the marriage and the husband agrees. The wife wants it, that's number one. The husband then agrees, he has to agree. That is then termed a khula and he is then entitled to his mahr. If the husband does not agree and the wife wants to end the marriage, the next step would be to go to a sharia council who can then look at the situation and if appropriate can then nullify the marriage. Either way, whether it is a nullification or whether it is a khula, then there would be an iddah that would need to be fulfilled. In a khula, for example, three complete menstrual cycles.
